Makeup
Foundation is used to provide an even
skin tone, cover imperfections and
give a finish to the skin. It should
go on smoothly and evenly without
adding shine or gloss. Foundation
is often formulated with UV protectants
and moisturizers.
The
wrong colored skin foundations will
make your color base pigments look
either unwell or dirty. Contrary to
what many women think, skin foundations
are good for your skin as a face cream
and can give your face a lift as an
anti-aging product. Good brands of
skin foundations add protection especially
with the use of your daily moisturizer.
Your skin's color pigments are protected
from air pollution and harmful UVA/UVB
rays. To get the best protection for
your skin type check what level of
sunscreen is provided by the skin
foundations that you wear.
With
skin foundations you will have to
use a cream, powder or liquid makeup
foundation. This will depend on your
skin type, color pigment, and the
how much coverage you need. If your
skin seems to absorb skin foundations
quickly that might be because it is
dry, so a silk cream foundation might
be best. Powder foundations are effective
in controlling oil build-up on greasier
skins. When applying foundation the
makeup should be applied and spread
on with a sponge for minimal coverage.
How do I apply makeup foundation?
Step
1 - First apply moisturizer
to your face.
Step
2 - Shake the foundation
bottle well. Dab some into your palm.
Step
3 - Dip in your fingers or
a triangular sponge, and dot on your
cheeks, your chin, your forehead,
and your nose.
Step
4 - Smooth it over your face
and gently blend in upward, outward
motions, making sure not to forget
the side of your nose, under your
eyebrows, along the jawline, blending
an inch below the jawline and chin.
Step
5 - Gently blot the face
with a tissue when you are done, to
soak up any excess oil. Your foundation
should feel light and natural. In
fact, if you can feel it at all, you
have put on too much.

Tip 1: If your water-based
foundation dries out, add a few drops
of alcohol-free toner and shake to
get rid of clumps. A bit of toner
will also make an oil-based foundation
sheerer and less oily. (Note: oil-based
foundations separate; shake each time
before you use them.)
Foundation
Tip 2: If you have facial
hair, apply foundation in the downward
direction to minimize the impact of
facial hair.
On
a mature skin, do not apply foundation
on the fine lines around the eyes.
It makes the lines more prominent
by accumulating there. So avoid the
under eye areas in mature skins. For
an evening makeup, you can mix some
astringent or water in a little foundation
to dilute it and then use it on these
areas.
